Remembering 9/11: Honoring the Fallen Heroes and America's Enduring Resolve

As the Twin Towers crumbled in New York City, the Pentagon burned in Arlington, Virginia, and brave passengers thwarted evil over the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, America was forever changed. These attacks, orchestrated by al-Qaeda under Osama bin Laden, targeted not just buildings but the very soul of freedom, reminding us of the fragility of peace and the eternal vigilance required to defend it.

The events of that fateful morning unfolded with chilling precision. At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 slammed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, followed 17 minutes later by United Airlines Flight 175 striking the South Tower. As flames engulfed the icons of American prosperity, first responders—firefighters, police officers, and paramedics—rushed into the inferno, embodying the selflessness that defines our nation's character. By 9:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 had crashed into the Pentagon, claiming lives at the heart of our military strength. It spurred the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act to safeguard liberties while rooting out threats, and military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq to dismantle terror networks. Conservatives led the charge in rebuilding our defenses, emphasizing border security, limited government intervention in crises, and a muscular foreign policy that prioritized American sovereignty.
