Day 1: Exploring Midtown and Iconic Landmarks
Start your day by strolling down Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, two of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. Be sure to stop at Tiffany & Co, where you can enjoy a croissant and coffee, just like Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Tiffany Yellow Diamond.
Next, visit Macy’s flagship store, one of the largest department stores in the US. The sheer size and variety of products on offer are impressive. Afterward, walk past the beautiful Chrysler Building and then head to the Empire State Building, another iconic NYC skyscraper. While you can go to the top of the Empire State Building, many prefer the Top of the Rock for its panoramic views that include the Empire State Building itself.
Take a moment to admire the unique triangular Flatiron Building before heading to Times Square, the heart of Manhattan. Times Square is best experienced at night, with its bright lights and bustling atmosphere. To cap off the day, consider a nighttime bus tour through Manhattan and over to Brooklyn, offering stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Day 2: Uptown Adventures and Central Park
Begin the day by visiting St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a beautiful and historic landmark. Then, stop by Radio City Music Hall, where you can take a guided tour and learn about its rich history. Nearby, explore Rockefeller Center, which includes NBC studios and the iconic M&M-filled logo.
Head to the Top of the Rock for breathtaking views of the city. Afterward, make your way to Central Park, where you can spend hours exploring. Key spots include the Alice in Wonderland Memorial, Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, the Great Lawn, and Strawberry Fields (the John Lennon Memorial). If you're a sports fan, consider spending an evening at Yankee Stadium.
Day 3: Lower Manhattan and the West Village
Start the day by taking a ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Seeing the Statue of Liberty up close is a must-do experience, and the boat ride in New York Harbor is a tradition you won't want to miss. You can depart from Battery Park, which is also a significant historical site as the landing point for immigrants until 1890.
After returning from the ferry, visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, a poignant tribute to those who lost their lives. Then, explore the trendy neighborhoods of Tribeca and Soho, known for their shopping and dining options. End your day with a visit to the West Village, starting at Washington Square Park with its landmark arch and the oldest tree in Manhattan, the Hangman’s Elm. If time allows, visit The Whitney Museum and take a walk along The High Line, a public park created on historic freight rail tracks.
